I recently heard a very lame-ass version of Sonny Curtis` "I Fought the Law" on the radio this week (name of band withheld because I am sort-of-a-nice-guy) and it made me think of what the Clash did with that classic: they made it their own.
"London Calling," "White Riot," "Rock the Casbah," "Complete Control," "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" Is this list explanation enough for why you should never mess with classics? All you Avril Lavigne wannabees and AFI junkies should just stick with staying as fake as you are and leave the real music to the people who have earned the right to be legends without living a lie.
