Kendall Defoe's BlogPosted by Kendall Defoe Support Police Brutality!!!!!!!!!! Yep, they are definitely back. The Police will be performing at this year`s Grammy Awards on February 11th. And I sincerely hope they do something beyond "Every Breath You Take." I know that this particular tune is in everyone`s mind and it deserves its success. But please, please, please let them do something, anything, from Outlandos D'Amour or Regatta de Blanc! I want to see if they can still burn through the music that first attracted me to the band and made me pay attention to what came next. Now, there is a rumour going around that this reunion for one night is going to lead to another tour and possibly more albums. Not enough info about this yet, but I am one of those people who hopes that this is just a one-off. I would not want the group to make the mistake made by the Sex Pistols or the Eagles. It is not possible to recapture the sound and spirit that made them legends, at least over the space of a tour. Let us enjoy just this one brief burst of what once was. The Police are back!!!!! http://www.eonline.com/news/article/index.jsp?uuid=aee0902e-eeac-469b-a7be-120b06183ef2 Posted by Kendall Defoe It was a pleasant surprise to discover the return of America. The laid-back duo, I mean. They have a new album coming out on Tuesday, "Here and Now," and have been receiving some very positive feedback from unlikely sources, like Rolling Stone magazine, Ryan Adams (a contributor to the album) and their co-producers, Fountains of Wayne`s Adam Schlesinger and Smashing Pumpkins` James Iha. I have heard a few key tracks: "Golden," "Ride On," and "Look at Me Now" (my favorite so far), and I would recommend that you get your ears teased by the band that gave us "A Horse with No Name" and "Sister Golden Hair." Here`s a link to the band`s new release: Posted by Kendall Defoe Happy Belated New Year, everyone! I apologize for the gap between things. I needed the time off to look for my family, seek out my nephew and neice, and discover a nice bottle of champagne. Okay, what`s to come. Please read my article on the Music and Military. I thought it was interesting that the music being covered would come from the seventies. I have followed the blog of Mr Chris Elliot and I suggest you do the same to see what he is up to with Groove Alliance. There will be the long-promised piece on Elton John as the first punk, the rise of disco and the death of Elvis (coincidence that they occured at the same time?), Bowie, Iggy, post-punk, the Bee Gees, more soundtrack reviews, interviews and lies. Enjoy! |
