Last minute Halloween costumes

There are just a few more days until Halloween. No need to panic! Try one of these 10 easy ideas for tweens:

1. Look through your book collection and see if any characters pop out at you. Once you choose a character, take the book with you to a thrift, craft or Halloween party store. Look for clothing, hair and make-up to help you create the character.

2. Look through the yellow pages. Find a profession you would love to try for a day, and create a costume using the clothing or uniform typical for that profession.

3. Find a box that would fit over your body. Think of all the things that might come in a box. Choose one. Decorate the box, then decide how to decorate yourself! Create suspenders to hold up the box.

4. Dress up as a relative or teacher you love. See if anyone can guess who you are.

5. Switch clothes with your best friend and dress up as each other.

6. Look out the window. Dress up as something in your yard – animal, plant, whatever.

7. Look through your kitchen supplies. Think up a costume idea using something like foil, paper plates or even a paper bag.

8. Go through your parent’s closet and dress up like one of them.

9. Visit your local thrift store and wander around the clothing section. Find a combination of clothes to wear as an old-time hobo or something else that sparks your imagination.

10. Go as yourself at a different age. Look through your old photo albums and pick a favorite pose.
