Posted by Tamiko Nicholson The Public Health Agency of Canada has changed its recommendations for the amount of swine flu vaccine that children need: The agency is recommending that kids over the age of 6 months and less than 3 years get two half-doses of the 2009 H1N1 vaccine, with at least 21 days between the two shots. But it is now saying that healthy kids ages three to nine need only one half-dose of the vaccine, which means only the one shot. Kids who have chronic medical conditions should get two half-doses of the vaccine. There should be at least a 21-day gap between the two shots. The information has been updated in Swine Flu Vaccine in Canada. Posted by Tamiko Nicholson So many friends and family members have been talking about the swine flu. People have a lot of questions and are wondering if getting the vaccine is right for themselves and their children. No matter what a parent decides to do, it's a personal choice and you need to do what feels right to you. I've been doing research for myself and writing up what I have found. Check out the following articles about the H1N1 virus to help you get more informed and decide what you will do when it comes to this new virus that is hitting communities around the world.

Posted by Tamiko Nicholson I am so excited to be the feature writer for parenting methods here at Suite101. Since I first learned that my firstborn child was on the way, I have been reading articles, buying books, surfing the Internet and going to parenting groups to collect as much information as I can on the topic of parenting. What I have learned over the years, is that you never stop learning because as soon as you figure out one thing, your child grows and changes or another one pops into the picture and changes the dynamics. As well, what seemed to work for the first child may not work at all with the second or other children that follow. Each child shines in his or her own delightful (and sometimes difficult) way like the unique sparkling star of the universe that each of us are.
Parents have one of the most awesome and awesomely challenging jobs out there, and I think it’s important to have as many tools as you can at your disposal. Here in Parenting Methods, we have a variety of parenting tips, tidbits, ideas and ideals to help you build up your toolbox of parenting skills. Come peruse through the articles we have waiting for you in the following sections: Happy reading and happy parenting to you!
