In a recent survey, middle school parents shared their top concerns for the school year. Among the topics at the top of the list were peer relationships, academic achievement and a parent's role in supporting, without stifling, their child's growth.
What concerns do you have as your child nears the mid point of this first academic quarter?
Take a moment to consider the moments that cause great strain and anxiety throughout the week. Do arguments arise over homework? Has your child's cell phone use driven the monthly bill off the charts? Or has a recent peer issue (bullying, cliques, etc.) brought you back to the days of your own middle school experience.
Identify the exact cause of the stress surrounding your child's middle school experience. Have you taken on your child's problems or are you providing a healthy support system for him to access when needed?
