Major Rogers Field Manual

Rangers were organized in 1756 by Major Robert Rogers, who recruited nine companies of American colonists to fight for during the French and Indian War. Ranger techniques and tactics were unlike any fighting that the world was used to in European armies. The men of these companies were the rough individuals of the American frontier, used to privation and the law of combat with the knife, tomahawk and ambush. Their 'Standing Orders' are the basis of the field manuals of the special forces of today. You can read their orders along with the Ranger Creed in three parts - 1 , 2, 3
