It is almost embarrassing for me to admit that I've read the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I became involved in the love story between Bella Swan and Edward Cullen just a few months ago, when my husband suggested I might like the books. I purchased Twilight at Kroger, and had New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn in my possession within the week.
It isn't that the Twilight series is particularly well-written--it's not--but more that I became fascinated and admittedly engaged in Bella's plight as she fell in love with the vampire Edward. I found Meyer's style of writing to be somewhat liberating, more amateurish in nature but nonetheless gripping.
This weekend, I went to see Twlight the movie with my husband, and I wish we'd waited until Monday. We were forced to sit in a crowded theater with hundreds of screaming Edward and Jacob fans, and I would have enjoyed it more in an empty theater--or at least one crammed with adults.
If you read my review, you'll find that I was slightly disappointed by the final product in Twilight the movie, but I'm glad I went to see it. I'm not a big fan of either Kristin Stewart or Robert Pattinson; however, the temporary escape from horses and writers and everything else that captures my attention on a constant basis was refreshing, and I actually had fun.
Now it's back to the salt mine. I've got clients waiting on finished products, articles to write, horses to work and a new business to run. No more flitting off to the movies for me--I've got work to do!
