The Internet has become a place where people go for answers about their pets, often in the middle of the night when you’ve noticed that your kitty has diarrhea. You start to worry and immediately go to Google and type in “My cat has diarrhea!” You hope you’ll find some reason that your cat is sick so that you can stop worrying like crazy and just get some sleep.
So you find a forum and see other people getting answers to their question and decide to post one yourself – “My cat has diarrhea. I can’t afford to go to the vet. What can I do?” And the immediate response by 30 people is, “What? Are you stupid? Take your cat to the vet! If you can’t afford a vet, you shouldn’t have a cat!”
The truth of the matter is that everyone deserves to have a pet if they want one. It isn't expensive to raise a cat, and they make wonderful companions. You're just looking for answers without adding an unnecessary vet bill to your already slim budget or even a definite yes, you need to get to the vet immediately. Not everyone can afford to rush to the vet just to find out their kitty has diarrhea because they changed her food abruptly.
There are times when a vet is the only answer. There are also times when a simple worming, or even time, can be all you need.
Here at Cats at Suite101, I promise that you can ask questions when you need to without being afraid of being judged or called names. Please feel free to drop by our discussion area any time at all, and if you need to, you can always email me.
