Otto Stern, (1888-1969), German-born American Physicist and Nobel Prize Winner in 1943.
Born February 17.
Stern held posts at the universities of Zurich, Frankfurt and Rostock before becoming Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Hamburg. He moved to the US with the rise of Nazis, where he became a Research Professor of Physics at the Cargnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh.
Otto Stern won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1943 for the use of molecular beams to establish atomic magnetic moments.
