George Frideric Handel

George Frideric Handel (1685-1759), German-born English composer of the Baroque Era.

Born: February 23, 1685.

He entered the University of Halle to study law, but music had a stronger appeal. He moved to Hamburg finding employment as a violinist and harpsichordist. Later, he went to Italy, where he astonished the Italians with his mastery of the organ and harpsichord.
