Charles Louis Montesquieu

Baron de Monetesquieu, Charles-Louis de Secondat (1689-1755), French highly influential social philosopher is born today, January 18.

He launched his criticism of contemporary society in the Persian Letters.

His Spirit of Laws attempted to explain the evolution of societies in terms of environmental features, that of cliamte, demography, and geography.
