LCCTA Provides Taste of Tennis

Members of the Lee County Community Tennis Association (LCCTA) were out in force at the 2007 Taste of the Town. Showing full support for the growth of tennis in Lee County, LCCTA President Harriet Bohannon and Executive Director Claudia Hudson enticed passersby and extolled the many benefits of LCCTA tennis programming to curious parents.

Kids Taught by Certified Teaching Professional

At the behest of the LCCTA, local USPTA Tennis Professional Glenn Kouns joined Greg Copeland, Connie Fox, Chris Jaramillo and Paul Bozwell in introducing over 140 kids to mini-tennis. Making sure that names were recorded, refreshments were available, and information was amply dispensed fell to a number of volunteers, including Joyce Weiss, Maggie Weaver, MJ Noone, Bo Bohannon, Isabel Munoz, Cecil Carter and Marcus Hudson.

LCCTA Youth Volunteers Valuable

Youth volunteers, as young as six-years-old, also did their part to make the event a success for the LCCTA. Selena Rodriguez, Rachel Weaver, Marcus Bolden, and Lauren Hudson took part in demonstrations, shagged balls, and assisted kids who stopped by to try their hand at mini tennis. Their participation contributed greatly to the success of the LCCTA effort.

LCCTA President's View

President Bohannon reported being extremely pleased with the LCCTA’s participation. “This was the second time we have participated in the Taste of the Town, and this was far and away the most remarkable outcome that we could have expected,” she said. “A number of kids kept coming back, and were clearly intrigued…it was a wonderful opportunity to explain our programs to parents,” beamed Bohannon.

LCCTA Presence a Success

Given the fact that manyy parents had to pull their kids away to attend other activities, I would say the Lee County Community Tennis Association presence at the Taste of the Town whet more than a few appetites.
