Landscape painting in Renaissance Venice

I just returned from an eventful trip to Athens, mainland Greece, and several Greek islands. I had a fantastic time and saw many beautiful sights. However, my trip was balanced by the hassles that are all-too-familiar today. Waiting in long lines to check bags. Queuing up to get through security checks. Being pulled out of line for "special handling" like being patted down and having all personal possessions closely inspected. Having a flight canceled and waiting through more interminable lines. Lack of sleep. The brutal heat. Suffering with a sinus infection.

All in all, the travel and the rich experiences are always worth the trouble.

I've been reading a lot lately about Venice - its unique beauty, its rich history, the artists who developed a unique use of light and color in their paintings. This is the place I desperately want to see next! First I'll need a short time to recuperate from this most recent trip....
