Twitter has grown exponentially in the last few months. In fact, Ashton Kutcher just hit the 1 million follower mark. I'm only about 999,900 behind him.
I'm finding more and more ways to use Twitter, and yes, it is addicting. Suite 101's very own PD Casteel writes about ways to use Twitter, including business, news, and political applications. I keep up with Suite101 news on Twitter. But he left one important thing out of his article. Twitter is just plain fun and friendly.
If you decide to dive into the social media of Twitter, you might want to download Tweetdeck. This desktop application allows you to read your tweets, your DMs (direct mails), and follow groups all in one window, while you keep working. Some of the newest groups are called Twibes, and no, that isn't an Elmer Fudd joke. You can also have meetings online in Tweetchat. The list of apps gets longer every day.
Twitter has it's own verbage and vocabulary which you'll learn on the fly. The latest I've run across is Flitterin. That's when you have your Facebook, Twitter, and Linked In accounts all in one application.
Now anything this big has to have a backlash, right? Maybe not. But if someone wants to create some fake backlash, here is how they could do a mighty fine job of it.
Well, my Tweetdeck is chirping. If you want to help me catch up to Ashton Kutcher in followers, you can find me on Twitter as Suzannelilly.
Tweet you later!
