As part of its 30th Anniversary Mainstage Season, DanceWorks presents Out of Bounds, an evening of contemporary dance featuring solos and duets showcasing the constrasting styles of choreographers Nova Bhattacharya and Jenn Goodwin. Best known for her Barratnayayam Classical Indian dance, Bhattacharya joins Goodwin in a program that includes two duets: the world premiere of Dana Gingras' The End (commissioned and supported by DanceWorks) uses the notion of the doppleganger as a means of confronting and challenging notions of identity and disconnection and the Toronto premiere of Mika Kurosawa's Gold Moon. Goodwin's 2004 solo The Falling and Toronto premiere of Calm Abiding, a powerful new solo created for Bhattacharya by José Navas, will also be presented. Out of Bounds runs Thursday October 26 to Saturday October 28 at Harbourfront Centre Theatre.
Toronto Dance Theatre (TDT) presents the Toronto premiere of Artistic Director Christopher House's newest full-length work, Timecode Break. This work explores time, presence and the ephemeral beauty of the human body and is integrated with video images (with camera work and editing by videographer Nico Stagias), offering dense layers of visual information. Christopher House has been Artistic Director of TDT since 1994 and is one of Canada's most respected choreographers. The show runs Tuesday, October 31 to Saturday, November 4, 8pm nightly, as part of Harbourfront Centre's NextSteps at the Premiere Dance Theatre. www.tdt.org.
