This past Tuesday night at the Baillie Theatre, I was fortunate enough to get out and see Margie Gillis kick-off TIDF with her performance of Voyages Into the Interior Landscapes. It was contemporary dance at its finest. Montreal-based Gillis, offering a recent collection of dances that required several years of research, brought the audience to their feet by the end of the night. Gillis, known for her deeply emotional and cathartic choreographic and dancing style, has the ability to convey all of life's complexities and forms by her vast understanding of movement, the physical body and its implicit connection to emotion.
