The Ottawa Senators Jeckyll and Hyde season continued last night in Ottawa. After beating the Eastern Conference leading Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night, the Senators looked horrible in a 7-2 pounding at the hands of the Boston Bruins.
The trio of Marco Sturm, Patrice Bergeron and Marc Savard combined for 12 points on the night as the Senators had troubles on defense all night long. Sturm netted the hat trick, Savard had two goals and two assists and Bergeron set up five goals. Senators D Wade Redden missed his ninth game in a row because of a chest injury. Redden, who had a groin injury earlier this season, has been limited to 18 games so far and the Senators need him back big time.
Zdeno Chara made his return to Ottawa and was booed everytime he touched the puck. It didn't seem to bother the big man, as he got an assist on a first period powerplay goal and was solid as always on defense.
Ottawa Senators season ticket holder James Leppard called it "one of the worst games I have ever seen".
At least the Sens fans can take solace in the fact that the Leafs got embarrassed at home on Tueasday night as well...
Word on the street in Ottawa is that Chris Neil and Antoine Vermette got in a fight in practice. Brian McGrattan stepped in a broke it up....at least they are showing some emotion I suppose...
