For a quick and easy table design for a casual dinner or family birthday party, try this colorful idea.

Drape a white or black tablecloth over the table, making sure that there is a 3-6 inch drop along the sides. On top of this, layer brown kraft paper or white butchers' paper, only covering the top surface.

Set the placesettings as usual, coordinating the napkins with the tablecloth color (white or black). A small, but brightly colored floral bouquet or basket is the only centerpiece that you'll need.

Scatter crayons or colored pencils throughout the table, and encourage everyone to doodle to their heart's content.
