Take control of your own party. Clearly state the expected end time on a written invitation or communicate the expected end time during a verbal invitation.

On the day of the event, you will always have the option to encourage your guests to stay longer. However, by defining the party parameters on the front end, you will avoid any confusion for guests with busy schedules.
