Janice Benoit's BlogPosted by Janice Benoit Oh my goodness --- I saw this movie last week and am still in awe of what that man could do! I was so impressed with his complete understanding of everything related to his performance. He knew that ultimately his name was on the entire production, and he paid attention to every little detail. But what impressed me even more, was that he was not a prima donna. When one of the musicians played the intro lines not to MJ's liking, rather than verbally berate the man, MJ gently described what he was wanted, help the musician understand it and ultimately deliver it. He was the consummate professional. Do yourself a favor and see this movie while it's still on the big screen. I entered the theater as a non-MJ fanatic, and left it with the utmost respect for his expression of his craft! Posted by Janice Benoit My fingers have been flipping through the tattered pages of my recipe cards and cookbooks, while my keyboard is tapping its way to finding "the best" holiday treats ever! I love elegance, but simplicity if more my style. And in this economy, budget is critical. My solution to satisfy the issues of mine that I outlined above, pique the tastebuds of my guests and look fantastic can be found here! Enjoy :-) Posted by Janice Benoit If you're like me, you anticipate the holidays for most of the year, yet there is an anxiety attached to this time of year --- Will everything go right? Will people get along? Will any major appliance break? Today, Nov. 16th, the first of many questions was answered. In a single day, not only did my garage door break, (trapping my car in the garage and therefore shackling me to the house), but my kitchen drain got blocked and the backflow into my dishwasher flooded the kitchen floor. ARRRGGHH!!! Tomorrow will be better -- it has to be! And how come things like this never happen to Martha Stewart?! Posted by Janice Benoit I was watching Food Network's The Next Food Network Star, when I realized how much information I could gather from these wonderful young cooks. Kelsie, the self-proclaimed queen of homestyle cooking, has an ease about her that radiates as she is preparing the dish du jour. The lesson learned here is that regardless of how the food tastes, Kelsie makes you feel comfortable and welcome at her table -- GREAT hospitality lesson! Aaron is a teddy bear of a man who creates buttered, barbecued and fried comfort food that is phenomenal. His passion for his work is intoxicating, and the joy he gets when people sample his food indicates that his work is an expression of love for the lucky recipient. I would LOVE to be a guest in his kitchen! Adam understands that a host can be an entertainer, however, it's important to NOT be the center of attention at your own event. To truly be a great host or hostess, you need to make the guests feel special, and that is difficult to achieve when you are drawing attention to yourself.
