Gamers Freeze for the PS3

EB Games Canada started taking pre-orders for the PlayStation 3 today, but most stores were out of spots before they were officially open.

This was due to the line-ups staff found upon getting to work, with some hardcore gamers having been camped out since noon on Saturday. So, stores opened early and within 10 minutes, most pre-orders were gone.

Each store was taking eight reservations, with the lucky first gamers having to shell out either $50 in trade-ins or $200 in cash or credit.

But according to their website, that didn't even guarantee a console on launch day, "as we cannot control shipping and production issues by the manufacturer."

The PlayStation 3 is expected to hit stores Nov. 17, selling for $599 U.S. and $659.99 Canadian.
