New Years Resolution Time

With New Years right around the corner many people are going to be making a change in their physique a predominant goal they wish to achieve.

Regardless if you want to build more muscle or lose some fat so your current muscle shows, you will have to have use the SMART goal setting principles.

What this means is that your goals are:

S -specific. Rather than just saying, "I'd like to add more muscle to my frame," say, "I'd like to gain 10 pounds of lean muscle by the end of this year." Perfectly reasonable and you will know exactly when you have reached it (provided you are having bodyfat measurements taken).

M - measurable. In order for you to evaluate your progress you need to ensure you can measure your goal.

A - attainable. Your goal should be something that you know is attainable with your current life environment. If in order to reach it you would have to go to the gym 20 hours a week and you currently work a full-time job and have 2 kids, this may not be a good goal for you to have.

R - realistic. You need to ensure that you are fully capable of achieving your goal given you work hard enough. If you are striving to be a size 1 and you have never been smaller than a size 4 in your life, this goal may not be realistic.

T - time sensitive. This means that you have an end date in mind that you want to achieve your goal by so that you do not simply procrastinate and tell yourself you will do it 'tomorrow'.

So make sure to take a look at your current New Year's resolution and see if it meets these guidelines.
