There are many teachers that have simple, yet useful suggestions to lead a better quality of life. Interestingly these teachers have existed in different centuries and in different cultures.

From the Toltecs of thousands of years ago to Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie and Abraham-Hicks, ready availability of happiness seems to be the cornerstone of these teachings.

If you believe that your life situation does not determine your quality of life, as much as your approach to it, you'll find these articles interesting.

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz - Toltec wisdom rediscovered and popularized by Don Miguel Ruiz.

Use Affirmations for Positive Changes in Life and How to Use Affirmations for Self Improvement?: - Change your thought, change your life. This approach to tapping into the mind-body connection was pioneered by Louise Hay.

Self-Help Expert Byron Katie's The Work: - Byron Katie questions the very basis of your non-serving thoughts and beliefs. Why hold on to them if they don't have an inkling of truth to them.

If you love the law of attraction (LOA), you are at the right place. Largely popularized by the movie, "The Secret", the law of attraction basically defines why and how things happen the way they do in our lives. It accounts for the mystical luck factor. It empowers the individual as the sole creator of his destiny. Above all, it helps you understand your life.

There are several articles on the law of attraction. Some of the basics are covered here.

German born Eckhart Tolle's message is simple, yet profound. Lets focus on the now, instead of brood on the past or ponder on the future. As easy as it is to understand, to live the message is probably the most difficult and liberating thing you'd ever do. We've been conditioned by our society to live in a mind projected future. Does it make sense to live unhappily today, just so we can live happily ever after at a future time? Does the future time even exist? Personally, my thinking was revolutionalized by Tolle's words like, "There was never a time when your life was not in the Now, nor will there ever be."

I remind myself of Tolle's message, when the complicated web I've weaved around me seems a little too much to handle. I have to admit, it is soothing and re-assuring. If the best things in life are simple and free, the "focus on the present moment" has to be near the top of the list of life's best. I cannot 'think' of anything more basic than living in the present moment.
