Pat Green lights up the sky

Most country music fans don't know much more about Pat Green than his "Wave on Wave" top 10 hit and his new single that's climbing the charts "Feels Just Like It Should."

When he appeared on my satellite radio station for an hour-long in-studio visit to play all the tracks from his new CD "Cannonball," I wasn't overly excited, but I listened.

What I heard had me smiling from ear to ear, and he hadn't even played the first song yet.

Pat Green has a funny, carefree personality that endured him to be right away. He was cracking jokes, making fun of himself, giving honest answers and telling stories that almost made me forget about the bumper-to-bumper traffic I was in.

And hey, the music wasn't bad either.

What I left the car with was a legitimate reason to root for the guy to make it in mainstream country.
