Having a plan that you can stick to is crucial to losing weight and beating junk food cravings.
I find it hard to watch TV in the evening because of all the pizza and other food commercials that tempt me into eating something I wasn't even considering otherwise. When I'm not prepared, it is too easy to order a deep dish pizza without thinking about the calorie content and the effect it will have on my weight loss goals.
So how do I prepare myself to resist the cravings and temptations of junk food?
· I have a solid meal plan.
· I have a detailed list of things I enjoy doing so I can distract myself in a pinch if I need to.
· I don't keep junk food in the house and when I do buy it, I buy in single serving packages so I can't eat a whole box of Ho-Ho's even if I wanted to.
· I substitute another snack for the one I am really craving. Weight Watchers desserts are one example of a quick, low-calorie option that will satisfy my sweet tooth.
· I don't swear off any foods completely. Nothing is off limits if eaten in moderation. A few slices of pizza per week keep me from eating a whole pizza when I am weak and feeling deprived.
· I seek support. Writing an email or checking in on a weight loss message board is sometimes all it takes to distract me from eating.
You can avoid giving in to your junk food cravings by creating a plan that works for you. Define what your needs are and write out a weekly and daily meal and exercise plan that will allow you to lose weight safely without giving up all of your favorite foods.
