You’ve likely seen the ads on TV telling you milk your diet and how consuming three serving of milk prodcuts per day can help you shed unwanted pounds. Milk products are wrapped in measuring tapes with a well-defined mid-section, like your waist is supposed to be. These weight loss ads for milk , however, are now banned by the Federal Trade Commission due to false advertising according to Fat News.
Though milk does do a body good and may prevent people from gaining weight, there is not significant proof that milk can actually help people lose weight. At best, the ads have been deceiving. Milk may be a better tool for weight maintenance than for weight loss specifically.
While you may continue to milk your health, don’t rely on milk as a weight loss product. As a general rule, don't rely on any type of advertising to base your health information from. Research the claims for yourself and test the validility of the claim. Go to reliable sources and get their opinions as well.
The milk ads will now focus on the health benefits of drinking three or more low fat milk products per day instead of the weight loss benefits, taking us back to the idea of building stronger bones, healthy teeth and a good dose of vitamin D.
Further research is needed to prove the weight loss benefits of milk.
