Overcoming Childhood Obesity

Growing up fat is not an easy thing to do. Not only is childhood obesity dangerous for our bodies but it is also a struggle mentally and it can take many years to repair. The things that other children, as well as grown relative and teachers, say to obese children are often appalling and hurtful.

The comments can stay with a person for a long time and can become the way they think of themselves. "If everyone else thinks I am just fat and lazy, then I must just be fat and lazy."

Challenge these thoughts to break the habit of retelling yourself these negative comments. Are you lazy? If you are then do something about it. Find a new activity to do and don't allow yourself to be a couch potato. However, if you're not, then stop telling yourself you are. Replace the thought with a positive thought. Try catching yourself repeating this and replace it with the things you do and are good at.

Learn to accept and love yourself no matter what anyone else says about you. Once you gain a certain amount of self-esteem they will look at you differently too.

Work through your feelings rather than giving into them or eating to push them down. Taking action will always get better results than worrying and stressing over things.
