When I lived in SF, one of the November traditions was marching in the Dia de los Muertos Parade, for the Day of the Dead. In SF, the folks who did that were part of the Chicano community, artists, students, activists, Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, goths and whoever happened to live in the Mission District along the parade route.
Here in Seattle, the Phinney Neighborhood Center has a parade for Dia de los Muertos, along with an art show, making sugar skulls and some sort of altar display. I took a class recently on making leather masks and I'm going to march in the parade wearing it tonight! Now I just have to figure out a good outfit for in the rain...
