Tam Crash Investigated

A Tam Airlines crash that killed 199 people last month in São Paulo, Brazil, has been under the scrutiny of a congressional panel.

The panel has found that there was no mechanical or computer error.

Other causes of the crash are now being investigated, with the primary focus being put on the runway´s condition.

Last month´s crash comes less than a year after a Gol passenger plane was hit in mid air by an executive playboy-type jet flown by American pilots over the Amazon region. This resulted in more than 150 deaths in the Gol airplane, while the executive plane --largely believed to be the cause of the crash -- was able to land without any loss of life.
