Sugar and Mental Health

According to a story in Reuters in October, there was a direct correlation between hyperactivity and sugar intake.

How Much Is Too Much?

According to Norwegian researchers, six servings of sugary soda per week was too much. The results were simple: more sugar equals more hyperactivity. This was especially true in 15 and 16 year olds that skipped breakfast and lunch. The study not only showed that students became hyperactive but also were more likely to suffer from

  • social,
  • behavioral and
  • food-related disorders.

The most severe problems were seen in boys that drank four or more soft drinks per day.

Study Conclusion

Remove soft drink machines from schools. Not only that, the researchers would like to have the machines removed from public places where youth gather.
