Scenario
A grandfather is enrolling his grandson, Casey, in the Mingus Springs, Arizona middle school. But, a few things are a little out of the ordinary:
Principal Dawn Gonzales called the Yavapai County sheriff. She thought "Casey" was an abducted child. But, the story gets more bizarre.
It Gets Worse
When detectives arrived at Casey's mobile home, they discovered that Casey was actually Neil Rodreick, a 29-year-old Oklahoma sex offender who was already convicted and served time. And, the story takes another twist that few expected. The "uncle" and "grandfather" who were the custodial parents of Casey turned out to be two California men that Casey was having sex with. They had no prior convictions at the ages 61 and 43. But, wait, it gets more strange. A fourth man living in the mobile home was a man posing as Casey's cousin but was really a 34-year-old that Casey had shared a prison cell with in Oklahoma and also a sex offender.
Not Weird Enough?
Just in case this has not been one of the strangest things you've heard for a long time, Snow and Stiffler, ages 43 and 61, are greatly upset to learn that Casey is 29 and not 12. They thought that they had been having sex with a 12-year-old and they are angry at being deceived. Huh?
The Courts
The four men have been indicted on 30 counts of fraud and possession of child pornography. They are being held on $1 million bond. Police are trying to determine how many children may have been molested and assaulted by these offenders by tracing former schools Casey may have attended.
Be On Guard
This case reminds us that we must be on guard at all times to protect children. Sex offenders have been "adults" preying on small children in the past. But, in this case, they became children to prey on children.
