TSA's New Travel Restrictions

In response to the recent terror threats to passengers of transatlantic

flights, effective immediately, the Transportation Security

Administration warns travelers that "NO LIQUIDS OR GELS OF ANY KIND WILL BE

PERMITTED IN CARRY-ON BAGGAGE. ITEMS MUST BE IN CHECKED BAGGAGE. This includes

all beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel, and other

items of similar consistency."

However, these items may still be packed in

checked luggage.

The following, according to TSA, are exceptions:

  • Baby formula or breast milk when traveling with an infant (prepared baby formula must be drank by a parent or guardian in the presence of a TSA employee)
  • Prescription medication, provided the prescription matches the passenger's name
  • Certain essential non-prescription medication, such as insulin Note: While baby formula is allowed on carry-on bags, jarred juice and baby food are not.

TSA recommends calling your airline and airport to get an idea on how much

time is needed. For more information, go to http://www.tsa.gov
