About three years ago, I walked around my property taking pictures of the snow-covered trees. Later, I used this photography in pieces of art, collages, greeting cards, and other mixed media work. I particularly enjoyed using these images in book arts. This idea sprung off photography and the work that followed when I did this in the fall.
I’m bringing this up because, with all the snow that dumped on us last night, I feel inspired to do this again. I have dreams of card creation, book arts, and mixed media paintings. I don’t know if these creations will come to fruition in the near future, but I’d like to have the photography in hand when the mood (and time) strikes.
The beauty of the changing seasons (sometimes these changes occur daily around here) has always inspired me in one way or another. I don’t like the cold of the winter, but I love the artistic opportunities winter presents. There’s something about seeing the snow . . . a metaphoric blank canvas. I’m looking forward to altering some of these images using glitter, embossing powders, and chalks.
