I found some GREAT deals. For example, at the craft store, the frames I was interested in (plain wood frames, no finish) were $9.98 each . . . I found a very slightly slimmer version at the dollar store for, you guessed it, $1.00! So, I bought ten.
I found stretched canvases for $5.00 each, which is a steal considering the size of each (3 10x10, 3 8x10 and 3 11x14). I also found four mirrors with a silver and nickel finish at the dollar store, as well.
I’m going to do a metallic faux sponge finish on the trim, and spray paint the wall embellishments with metallic paint. These options will still give me the same look, but it saved me a whopping $60.00!! I couldn’t believe the price difference!
I found a piece of remnant upholstery that’s a shimmering slate blue patterned texture for only $5.00, so I picked up some stick on pieces of Velcro so I can wrap the outside of the really ugly old metal desk I’m placing in the center of the room. I have some interior paint that exact shade of blue, so I’m going to do some of the canvases that color for the walls.
I’m so excited to start playing in there! I’m going to go Spackle the trim before the kids return home from school!
