For as long as I can remember, art has been a very important part of my everyday life. I'm thinking about what I want to create, I'm making something, I'm selling something . . . art, art, art. I've gone from a novice "nothing really matters unless I'm creating" type to the sort who will only create once everything else was taken care of first.
Lately, I've felt like I've been in a rut. I'm participating in ArtSoMoFo, yes, but it doesn't seem to be enough. I like the idea of creating art on a daily basis and I've been able to keep up with that goal. What happens at the end of the month, though? Will I fall into the same rut again? Will I be able to keep up with the pace of daily creating?
I started a group to help myself, and anyone else with similar struggles, keep the productivity up and the artist blocks (and other boundries) away:
30 Page Spreads 30 Days
http://groups.myspace.com/30pages
The idea is to create a page spread (two facing pages) daily for thirty days. This can be done in the same manner as The Artist's Way's morning pages or the Simple Abundance nightly gratitude journal. It doesn't matter what you put on the pages, how much of each page is used or what time of day you create. Just so long as the creation process occurs.
The group contains:
This will be an on-going project so, for those who don't have time to make the commitment right away, there's always the next round. Or, you can start on any given day and go thirty days from there. The idea is to keep yourself productive for thirty days straight in an effort to keep the momentum going beyond that period of time . . . for it to become are regular part of your routine and a respected part of your life.
This project officially launches October 15th. All are welcome.
