Yes, I do take my own advice, and as I embark on this new Career Adventure, I invite you to join me as I relate the ups and downs I most assuredly will endure.
Due to circumstances that I have agreed to, I have moved from my beloved Toronto (ok, the GTA, um, ok, as far north before it was no longer the GTA, but I could still commute to Toronto without a lot of fuss) to a more rural environment, shall we say (although my husband says this does not qualify as Satan's place of residence, but at the moment I feel it does). This is a move and a change that I did know was coming and happening, I just did not realize it would come so soon. (or perhaps I hoped it would not be so soon).
No matter how I look at it, I am no longer in commuting distance to Toronto; and must take a train or brave the truck traffic of the beloved 401 (for you Americans, that's NOT the coveted retirement plan, but a highway that actually joins Canada from one end to the other). And it's not just the commute - I have lost most of my contracts due to my perceived distance from the centre of my universe (this was due to other's choice, not mine - being an hour away from a client is acceptable on both sides; being almost three hours has become a disadvantage the client does not want to deal with.)
The plus side is that I will be returning to school while starting up my business again - and I will give you first hand reports on the trials, tribulations and eventual accomplishments of this endeavour.
Stay tuned!
