Resume writing - no holiday

It's summer, and most people think of vacation and time away from the office. You may notice many ads now posting for summer help, and you may also notice a decline in many full-time careers. Coincidence? Nope - everyone/every place of employment needs a break. You'll find many companies don't do much recruiting during the summer - or be prepared for a long time between interviews as crucial staff get back from their own vacations.

This does not mean it is hiatis time for you though! Not ALL companies close up shop for new employees - and some companies do use the down time of summer to actively seek out new talent - they WANT those of you who are restless at their place of current employment - and by talking to you during the summer/vacation time they can literally take more time to find the right person - YOU!

Use this "quieter" time to hone your resume and cover letter. You'll actually find that you will keep tweaking both as you write each document. Go back and forth between the two. I do suggest you start with the Resume, then create a cover letter for a company you want to join/an ad that catches your eye. By doing this you'll see what you may have missed in your initial work for your Resume, and vice versa. Does your Resume support your Cover Letter? Does your Cover letter expand on your Resume while answering the implied questions of the ad?

And don't get any Marguerite stains on those documents!
