Reality News in Brief

  • Jerry Springer gets the boot on "Dancing with the Stars". Springer was always gracious and affable. He had a good sense of humor about his lack of ability. His parting words were "Thank you for having me. And thank you for letting me go home." Sure, Springer made for good TV if not good dancing. Emmitt Smith, Monique Coleman, Joey Lawrence and Mario Lopez still remain in the competition which continues next week!
  • Jason Newsted, of Rock Star: Supernova, will be missing the band's tour. Seems he needs shoulder surgery immediately. The former member of Metallica tore his bicep and rotator cuff when he tried to catch a bass falling from an amplifier. He'll be out of commission for at least nine months.
  • "Top Model" contestant AJ says the show contacted her via her MySpace page and asked her to try out. In an interview with TV Guide, AJ says that the process isn't about picking the best model. It's kinda "political." She also thought it was "ironic as hell" that she got eliminated the same week she was chosen as the CoverGirl of the Week. Us too!
  • Padma Lakshmi, the smokin' hot new host of Bravo TV's "Top Chef", is a supermodel, cookbook author and wife to novelist Salman Rushdie. Yup! Padma, who was born in Chennai, India, is fluent in English, Hindi, Italian, Spanish and Tamil. She's a grad of Clark University in Massachusetts and was in the remake of the Ten Commandments with Dougray Scott and Naveen Andrews this past spring.
