Taking Charge of Our Cancer Risk

Although many of us know how important our health choices are, it is often a struggle for us to follow up on these practices. We all need the occasional prod and the timely bit of advice. I would therefore like to invite those of you who are taking charge of your health by actively employing strategies for good health to share your tips and stories.

Whether it is a successful smoking cessation effort, a consistent exercise program or attention to proper diet, let’s hear about it. Cancer screening and prevention are important activities that should be given priority.

Decreasing your cancer risk is easier said than done. Many of us live very hectic lives. This makes it very difficult to find the time to properly look after our health needs as we often struggle to balance work and other responsibilities. It’s not that we don’t want to, or in many cases, don’t know how. Often, time constraints created by heavy work schedules simple leave us with little time and energy to care adequately for ourselves.

If you have found a way to get around these issues, I invite you to share this with us by joining the discussion. By doing so, you could be helping others who have been struggling with these very issues. If you are going through a particular struggle, feel free also to share. Perhaps we can offer you suggestions.

I have also given some guidelines for cancer screening. These are general guidelines based on the recommendations of one of the well-known medical organizations.
