Why We Have Calendars

Calendars are so cool. They tell us everything from the year, to the month, right down to the day. They let us know what holidays are approaching, let us mark whose birthday is next, and remind us of important dates that we must remember. It is too bad that calendars rely on busy moms and dads to fill in most of the information because quite frankly, sometimes things get overlooked.

The downfall of calendars are they are not much good, if we don't take the time to write in them and use them to their fullest potential. With the busy lives we lead in today's world, even carving out time to write in our planners and calendars has to be remembered. Here are some time management tips to help you stay organized:

  • Time management is based on routines. You need to figure out the things that are first and foremost. In other words, prioritize what has to be done and what can wait.
  • Implement a plan to reach your goals. You can't get anywhere, if you don't know where you are going.
  • Mark your calendar as soon as a date enters the scene. You should have a calendar hanging at home, in your pocketbook, in your car, and in your office.
  • Delegate to take some of the duties off of yourself. Your kids can do more than you give them credit for. Teach your tween to wash clothes and clean her own bathroom. It's good for you and it teaches responsibility.

Enjoying your time with your family does not have to mean transporting everyone here and there, and you pulling out your hair. Find ways that you can simplify things and everyone in the family will feel less stressed. Gotta go!
