Online Sites That Attract Tweens

Finding safe places for your tween to play games online is not too difficult. Plenty of reputable companies have gone out of their way to create safe and friendly environments for tweens to play. What's even better about that is that the games are geared for growing minds, so your child doesn't have to worry about being bored with what's available to them.

Here are some of my kids favorite places to go online:

  • Club Penguin: An interactive game site where you adopt a penguin, earn rewards, and build a place for your little friend to live. There are lots of arcade style games, plus other types of activities. Club Penguin has recently been acquired by Disney.
  • Sparktop: A good place for tweens to play educational games that are actually fun to play. They offer a forum for kids to communicate with each other as well.
  • Disney's Toontown: This is a site where tweens can play in a virtual world by creating and naming a character of their own. They can give the site a spin with a free trial, but then need to upgrade to a paid account after that to continue with the features offered.

There are plenty more sites out there, and I found some great information about these sites at Izzy Neis. If your tween is looking for new fun places to play online, it is definitely worth checking Izzy out. As always, it is not a good idea to let your child play for too long on the computer. Outside recreation is still an important part of their life! Have fun surfing the web.
