Hi There! I'm very excited to be the new Feature Writer for Baking & Desserts! One year ago, I didn't even know what a blog was, let alone write one. That's what happens when you spend more time in the kitchen than on the computer. That's what I did for over 15 years, I was chained to the stove and ovens. My stove wasn't the typical Kenmore model either. It was a huge mother - 60" wide with 10 burners and 2 ovens. We moved a few times during those years and after throwing his back out more than once, my husband threatened to bury me in it when I died. Ahhh~~memories.
Some of the earliest memories of baking are the ones I spent with my Grandma in her kitchen during the holidays. The house always smelled so good, like molasses and cinnamon. Grandma, Aunt Mary and I, made tons of Christmas cookies every year. We made rolled sugar cookies, cut them out with antique cookie cutters and sprinkled them with colored sugar. There was flour and sugar everywhere - in our hair, on the floor and all over the tables and chairs. We packed them into recycled tins separated with wax paper and tied it with ribbons and a handmade tag. Ahhh~~more memories.
Holidays! I can't think of a better time of year to start this "Suite" blog than right now. The houses are all decked out in their finest with lights twinkling and holiday music blasting. There are parties at the office, parties at school, cookie exchanges, family parties and even parties on the dock. Holiday parties mean desserts and lots of them. mmm...desserts!
Be sure and check back daily. Baking & Desserts may just be the most popular section on Suite this month!
And remember, "Life is Uncertain, Eat Dessert First"
