Cave Canem 10th Anniversary October 12-14 throughout New York City, various times
If you love poetry, this is a "must" event! Panel discussions, readings, lectures, and more are on the schedule of this anniversary celebration. Poets like Yusef Komunyakaa, Lucille Clifton, Al Young, Marilyn Nelson, Toi Derricotte, Sonia Sanchez, and more will participate. Cornel West, Greg Tate, Major Jackson, Miguel Algarin, and others will be on panels. And don't miss the silent auction and reception. Walter Mosley will be the keynote speaker.

Native Son novel/play reading and discussion Friday, October 13, 7 p.m. in Seattle at Faire Gallery/Cafe at 1351 East Olive Way (at the corner of Olive and Melrose).
The Intiman Theater in Seattle is presenting an adaptation of Richard Wright's classic novel, Native Son, from October 20 to November 18. This event at Faire Gallery/Cafe is one of a series of eight to complement this production.

The Bronzeville Experience tour Saturday, October 14,10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
The University of Chicago-Graham School with the DuSable Museum of African American History and the Chicago Architecture Foundation.
Join a tour of Chicago’s famous Bronzeville neighborhood. It covers everything from art, music, film, politics, economics, and race relations. The history of Bronzeville will be explored through on-site visits, lectures and performances. Start at the DuSable Museum, with a lecture by oral historian, Timuel D. Black. The tour will cover locations including the historic Sutherland Lounge and the legendary “Stroll” of South State Street.
