Every month--on the third Tuesday until May 2007--Jazz Poetry Jams will be held at the American Jazz Museum. New local poets perform in a fun, creative, and competitive atmosphere in the Kansas City museum's atrium. The season's first will take place on Friday, September 22, between 7 and 11 p.m.
Music and entertainment are provided by The Jazz Poetry Jams Trio and DJ Taha. Also enjoy hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, and door prizes.
Each month the winning poet receives $100, five hours of free studio time, a master CD and 50 copies (donated by Chapman Recording).
Admission, $5. American Jazz Museum Atrium, 1616 East 18 Street, Kansas City, MO; (816)-474-8463.
