There is a lot of information out there about using your mind to overcome illness or pain and there is a lot of truth to the old adage, mind over matter.
But what about using your body to heal yourself? Do you believe that stress and tension can develop from not expressing emotions? Can we get a physical pain from interacting with someone who is making us angry? If you can't express your true feelings, at what point is it going to start manifesting as tension somewhere in your body? Do you ruminate about things in your mind because you cannot resolve it any other way? There is so much information that is stored in the physical body. Candace Pert, Ph.D., is a neuroscientist who wrote a book in 1997 titled "Molecules of Emotion: the Science Behind Mindbody Medicine." She helped pave the way for scientists to research the body mind phenomena. She believes that emotions are stored in the body. She also believes that the mind is not just in the brain, but actually within the body. Her research has really empowered people to understand that connection between our minds and our bodies.
