Scented Ornaments to Gift or Use

I am including below the directions to make the ornaments. Keep in mind that following directions to the letter is never necessary or exciting. Use this as a jumping off point.

Use equal parts applesauce and cinnamon. Make sure there is some of each left over so that if the consistency is took dry you can add applesauce and too wet you can add cinnamon. Throw in some cloves, nutmeg and allspice. How much is up to you. (I am told that adding white elmer's glue will help them last longer.) Knead into a cookie dough consistency. Cover your table with wax paper or clear wrap. Place the dough in the center of the surface and push it down to flatten. Cover with clear wrap. Now using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to about 1/4 of an inch in thickness.

Cover cookie sheets with paper towel. Using the cookie cutter of your choice, cut out shapes. Use a toothpick or any pointed object to make a hole for hanging. Remove them from the table with a spatula. Place the ornaments carefully on the cookie sheet. Set them aside and allow them to dry over 3-5 days. Turn them at least once a day.

When they are completely dry lace a ribbon through the hole and tie for a hanger. Leave a bowl of these near the front door so that as guests take their leave, you can gift them with something to remember the time together.
