An Advent tree is just a twist on the traditional calendar. To view the article in it's entirety click here. You will notice the one thing our tree is missing is a topper. We need a special tree topper to go with our personalized tree skirt.
Tree Topper
Materials Needed:
On the computer set up a family portrait to print approximately six inches. Print onto scrap paper.
On a sheet of scrap paper draw or trace a six inch star. Cut the star out and pin it to the fabric. Cut the star out of the fabric.
Lay the scrap paper you printed on top of the fabric. Trim the edges of the paper to line up with the fabric. Make sure no one is cut out of the picture. This is the front of your tree star. If it lines up ok go ahead and print on the transfer paper. If not make the adjustments necessary then print.
Stitch the transfer sheet to the fabric with right sides facing. Leave an opening at an inner point for turning and to the upper most branch to be inserted. Trim seach point prior to turning the fabric right side out.
Turn the fabric and closed all but one inner point. Stuff with batting scraps.
If you make a tree star each year for your Advent tree, take the previous years star and baste it closed. Hot glue a ribbon to the top point. It will give you a personalized ornament for your large family tree.
Using a permanent marker make sure to date the back.
