Panic Button

In making a panic button there are very few supplies needed.

  • Model Magic white clay
  • Paint -gold, red and black
  • Small and fine paint brush
  • Drinking Glass with approximately a three inch opening
  • A quarter
  • Magnet Strip
  • Pencil with a dull lead
  • Hot glue

You can use other colors of Model Magic if you want to skip the painting altogether. I like this project with the metalic finish. It is strictly a matter of preference. Take a piece of Model Magic and work it in your hands for a few minutes. You will find the heat and oils from your hands make it more workable. Mold the piece roughly into a 3 ½ inch circle about ¾ of an inch thick.

Lay it on a flat surface and use the drinking glass like a cookie cutter to give it a perfect circle. Remove excess. Round in the edges all the way around. Lay the quarter in the exact center. Using the pencil lead draw a line all the way around the pencil. Indent as you follow the line around the quarter. Indent should be about ¼ of an inch deep. Smooth the edges outward so it is a curved arch from the outer ring to the inner ring.

In the center is your quarter sized circle. Allow to dry completely before proceeding.

Paint all but the center circle gold. Paint the center circle in red. Using the fine brush paint along the arch above the red button “Panic” and below it “Button”

When paint is dry, hot glue magnet on the back.

These are a great stress reliever at work and work as a fun gift for someone you know is going through a tough time and needs to laugh. You can give them to the dad to be or the groom to be as a gift. Keep one in your house just for a conversation piece. They are so simple but they are guaranteed to make people smile.
