It's Chrismas Eve

If something isn't ready at this point. Don't worry about it. If it can't get done within an hours time, it is time for plan B. If you have four siblings and you have been trying to make them all quilts. You get all of the ones that will need to be mailed off done and sent. You have one more that is still going to need hours of work. Don't spend today trying to beat the clock. Put one small piece of fabric that is being used in the quilt in a box with a note. On the note simply write them an IOU for the quilt they will receive in January.

We so often just take on too many projects and our ideas far surpass the time we can realistically find. It's ok. Don't expect yourself to be superwoman or superman. If it can't be finished quickly, it is time to stop and make time for you to enjoy the holidays.

We do the same thing no matter if it's the dozens of cookies we planned to bake or the painting we wanted to get done. There comes a point were we have to allow ourselves to be imperfect and gain some enjoyment out of the holidays.

I used to make so many of the gifts that I literally would work all year and still have marathon sessions trying to finish up the last items. Now I pick two or three people in the family and design something special for them.

Maybe this needs to be included in our new years resolution. We promise ourselves we will exercise more and eat less. How about I will be kinder to myself and spend more time enjoying the crafts I love and less time trying to do too much.
