Holiday Ornaments

Throughout the holiday season we will do a sharing of traditions with decorating and gift wrapping and giving. We will share every thing that makes Christmas special for us. This week we will be starting off the tradition series with ornaments.

Did your family have a tradition with ornaments or ornament making? Do you add a new ball each year for the children? We all have traditions that are so wonderful, I would love to hear yours. If you have a special kind of ornament you make, e-mail me. I would love to hear about it and share it with readers.

My mother always pulled out the ornaments we made in kindergarten no matter how old we got. The funny thing was the pride we felt at making that pinched lump of clay that was supposed to represent baby Jesus, still made us proud. When our children came home with the same strange lumps of clay we recognized how incredibly special they were.

I found Christmas to be a time when no matter how busy life got, we made time to do those special annual projects. In my house it wasn't Christmas if we weren't cutting, gluing, baking, sewing or in some way creating our own magic. I still have all of the ornaments my daughter made from the ice cream cone that was varnished with glue to the wooden boot with her picture glued on it in first grade.

Those are the ornaments that become our history. E-mail me with your special ornaments traditions or stories.
